Laura Owens (Euclid, Ohio,  1970) è un’artista statunitense.  Vive e lavora a Los Angeles.


Laura Owens è una pittrice americana che è emersa alla fine del 1990. È nota per i suoi dipinti a tecnica mista di animali e paesaggi che incorporano una serie di riferimenti alla storia dell’arte e alle tecniche pittoriche

La Owens ha ricevuto il suo BFA dalla Rhode Island School of Design nel 1992. Nel 1994 ha frequentato la Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture a Skowhegan nel Maine ed ha ricevuto il suo MFA presso il California Institute of the Arts di Valencia, in California.

Nel 2004 è stata la più giovane artista ad aver mai ricevuto una retrospettiva al Museum of Contemporary Art di Los Angeles.

Ha avuto mostre personali al Museo Bonnefantan, Kunstmuseum Bonn, Museo d’Arte Milawaukee, Aspen Art Museum, Miami e Moca.

La Owens, oltre a Frances Stark e Sharon Lockhart, fa parte di un gruppo che è conosciuto come il “LA Women Artists”.

Oltre alla pittura, ha creato anche “libri ed ha invitato altri artisti di usare il suo studio e il suo staff per creare libri d’artista, e fa un show regolare alla KCHUNG Radio.

Nel 2013 Laura Owens espone dodici nuovi dipinti aalla 356 Missione, una galleria e spazio comune sita a Los Angeles.

Nel 2015 Laura Owens espone pezzi presso il Museo d’Arte Moderna come parte della loro Forever Now: Contemporary Painting in una Atemporal World exhibition.
