Jo Vickery, Senior Director and Head of the Russian Art department in London, ha commentato: “Overall, we are delighted with the results of this week’s sales which realised the within estimate total of £21.4/35.2 million, bringing the total for Russian Art sold at Sotheby’s this year to $51 million. We established a new auction benchmark for Vasily Vereschagin and set a further three artist records. Rare works of quality by blue-chip artists with good provenance continue be highly sought-after – collectors in this field remain extremely selective.”
