L’asta dedicata alla collezione di Daphne Guinness – l’ereditiera di una delle marche di birra più famose al mondo, icona di stile, modella e musa di stilisti – che si è svolta il 27 giugno da Christie’s a Londra, ha realizzato £476,800 ($744,285 / €595,523 ), più di quattro volte la stima pre-asta. 90 lotti venduti su 102 offerti.
In catalogo 100 pezzi provenienti dal guardaroba di Isabella Blow (Nota per aver “scoperto” lo stilista Alexander McQueen). La Guinness e la Blow erano legate da stima e amicizia. Dopo la scomparsa della Blow nel 2007, la sua collezione di abiti haute couture fu acquistata integralmente dalla Guinness (nel 2011) per evitare che venisse dispersa.
Il ricavato della vendita sarà devoluto alla Isabella Blow Foundation, che supporta talenti emergenti dell’arte e della moda.
Sono stati realizzati nuovi record mondiali per il fotografo Mario Testino, Alexander McQueen e Christian Lacroix.
Secondo Samantha Conti (www.wwd.com) l’ “US Private” dichiarato dalla casa d’aste come buyer dell’abito da record di McQueen (lotto 99) sarebbe Lady Gaga.
