18.06.2013, Christie’s – La Evening Sale di Christie’s ha totalizzato  64,076,575 sterline (£92,583,550 nel giugno del  2012). Sui 44 lotti in catalogo 7 sono rimasti invenduti. Tra questi, citiamo il lotto 41: Joan Miró (1893-1983) con “La tige de la fleur rouge pousse vers la lune (The Stem of the Red Flower Grows Toward the Moon)” (91.8 x 71.4 cm.) dipinto nel 1952 e stimato £5,2/7,000,000. E’ rimasto senza acquirente, forse per una stima troppo elevata. Top price Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944) con “Studie zu Improvisation 3” (44.7 x 64.7 cm) dipinto nel 1909. Offerto (dalla famiglia Nahmad) a £12/16,000,000 è stato aggiudicato in sala per £13,501,875. In dollari $21,157,438, un soffio quindi dai $23,042,500 realizzati da un altro dipinto della stessa serie, attuale record per l’artista in asta: “Studie für Improvisation 8” venduto sempre da Christie’s, ma a New York nel novembre del 2012. Secondo Judd Tully di Artinfo,  il dipinto è stato venduto al mercante di Zurigo Beda Jedlicka della galleria J&P Fine Art. Tra le aggiudicazioni di rilievo si segnalano: una scultura di Auguste Rodin, “Eve après le péché”,  offerta a £500/700,000 ma battuta, dopo molti rilanci,  a £2,861,875. Subito dopo un “Cavallo” di Marino Marini partito da £250,000 è stato aggiudicato a £1,025,075. Due i Giacometti in catalogo. Uno (un gesso) è rimasto invenduto mentre il bronzo “Femme debout” (h. 41 cm. Concepito nel 1956 e realizzato in una edizione di 6 nel 1961) ha cambiato proprietà per £2,637,875 (st. £1,5/2,500,000). “Sainte-Anne (Saint-Tropez)” di Paul Signac è stato battuto a £3,533,875 (73 x 92 cm, dipinto nel 1905).  Molti i rilanci per “Sainte-Adresse” di Claude Monet (48.2 x 74.3 cm, dipinto nel 1873). Era stimato £1/1,500,000 ed è passato di mano per £2,861,875. Nuovo record mondiale per Eugène Boudin(1824-1898) che con £1,237,875 ($1,939,750) battute per “Scène de plage” (45.3 x 73.2 cm, del 1864, stima: £500/700,000) ha superato davvero di un soffio il suo record precedente di 1,929,517 $ realizzato nel giugno del 2007 da Sotheby’s a Londra. Sempre secondo Judd Tully di Artinfo,  il dipinto è stato venduto al mercante londinese  Ivor Braka. Nuovo record per un dipinto per Costantin Brancusi (“Etude de Mlle Pogany” a £1,517,875). Molte offerte anche per René Magritte con “La chambre du devin (The seer’s chamber)” (75 x 65 cm, del 1926) che è stato aggiudicato a £1,517,875 (stima £700/1,000,000).

19.06.2013, Sotheby’s– La Evening Sale di Sotheby’s ha totalizzato £105,939,000 per un catalogo di 72 lotti (rispetto ai £75,046,850 nel giugno 2012). Di questi uno è stato ritirato (Kees Van Dongen, “Siréne Espagnole”, 1912, st. 3/5,000,000 £) e 13 sono rimasti invenduti. Top price dell’asta la veduta di Venezia dipinta da Claude Monet nel 1908, “Palazzo Contarini”,  tra gli highlights più acclamati prima della vendita. E’ stato aggiudicato a un prezzo entro le stime (15/20 milioni di sterline). Per l’esattezza a  19,682,500 sterline (29,714,670 $). Un ottimo affare per il venditore, che aveva acquistato il dipinto nel 1996 da Christie’s per “solo” 3,850,000 $ (diritti esclusi). Al secondo posto nella lista delle migliori aggiudicazioni Piet Mondrian. La piccola “Composizione con rosso, giallo e blu” di neanche 40×40 cm del pittore olandese è partita da 4,500,000 sterline, ma si è fermata a più del doppio: 9,266,500 £. Al terzo posto Wassily Kandinsky con un vivace studio per paesaggio autunnale con barche del 1908 che ha superato la stima massima fermandosi a  6,354,500 sterline. Ma è la scultura ad aver dato ottimi risultati (Vendute tutte e 13 quelle in catalogo per un totale di £16,052,500). La terza dimensione è molto ricercata sul mercato negli ultimi anni. Forse perchè la sua solidità reale richiama per i collezionisti una solidità di investimento. La giovane scultrice e allieva di Auguste Rodin, Camille Claudel ha raddoppiato il suo record precedente in asta con l’aggiudicazione a 5,122,500 sterline (8,023,371 $) per la sua intensa scultura “La Valse”, un bronzo di 96 cm di altezza, eseguito nel 1892 e fuso l’anno seguente in un’unica versione. Altre sculture hanno superato le stime: “Working model for draped reclining mother and baby” di  Henry Moore offerta a 1,3/2,000,000 £, è stata battuta a 3,554,500 £. Un Cavallo di Edgar Degas ha “galoppato” fino a raggiungere 1,426,500 sterline e una ballerina spagnola è stata battuta a 602,500 £. Un marmo del 1965 di Jean Arp (Il fait le beau) è stato venduto 338,500 £. “Serene head (Thea)” di Barbara Hepworth – il lotto numero 1 – partito da 50,000 sterline, è stato venduto a 386,500. Tra le altre aggiudicazioni di rilievo (molti lotti hanno superato la stima massima): “Ineinander (Intermingling)” di Wassily Kandinsky (1,650,500 £ – nuovo record d’asta per un’opera su carta dell’artista); “Composition au chapeau” di  Fernand Léger(1,022,500 £); ” Le rendez-vous”  (1,202,500 £) e “L’idée” (4,562,500 £) di René Magritte; “Abstrakter kopf: tragik (abstract head: tragic)” di Alexej von Jawlensky(1,202,500 £); “E-bild (E picture)” di  László Moholy-Nagy(602,500 £); “Étreinte” di Pablo Picasso (3,106,500 £). E ancora Max Ernst, Salvador Dalì, Claude Monet…
