La vendita serale di Contemporary Art che si è svolta il 27 giugno da Phillips ha chiuso la settimana londinese dedicata all’arte contemporanea. Ha realizzato £12,330,000 ($18,864,900 / €14,426,100) con un venduto del 89% per valore e il 92% per lotto. Top lot un’opera dell’artista inglese Glenn Brown, “Oscillate Wildly (after ‘Autumnal Cannibalism’ 1936 by Salvador Dalí)” aggiudicata a £2,882,500 ($4,410,225 / €3,372,525). Rudolf Stingel ha realizzato un nuovo record mondiale per un suo autoritratto con £782,500 ($1,197,225 / €915,525).
Molti rilanci per “Untitled Film Still #36″ del 1979 di Cindy Sherman venduto per £302,500 ($462,825 / €353,925) quasi quattro volte la stima massima e per il dell’artista sudamericano Oscar Murillo aggiudicato a £146,500 ($224,145 / €171,405), dimostrando così una forte domanda per i due artisti, giovani ma affermati.
