Sea of Hull è il titolo del recente progetto del fotografo Spencer Tunick. La performance, che ha attirato migliaia di partecipanti, si è svolta il 9 luglio scorso nella cittadina inglese dello Yorkshire, Kingston upon Hull, che ha come attività principale la pesca.

Il fotografo ha chiamato a raccolta 3200 persone che hanno invaso le strade del centro città dopo essere state colorate con sfumature di azzurro e blu, i colori del male. L’installazione site specific è stata richiesta a Tunick dalla Ferens Art Gallery che esporrà il progetto nei suoi spazi nel 2017 in occasione della nomina di Hull a città della cultura 2017 UK.

A questa iniziativa hanno partecipato importanti esponenti del mondo dell’arte. Tra questi il collezionista belga Stéphane Janssen di ottant’anni che, in un’intervista al giornale Le Figaro, ha dichiarato: “Ogni partecipante è come toccato dal colore in una combinazione tra natura e architettura che Tunick ha studiato con precisione”
Partecipare ai lavori di Tunick significa partecipare ad una performance collettiva in cui il senso dell’opera d’arte è determinata grazie alla presenza di ogni singolo individuo.
