The BERLINER LISTE has successfully established itself over the recent years as the second largest art fair in Berlin after the Art Forum Berlin. In 2010, for the seventh time the BERLINER LISTE will provide a platform for the international art scene. This year the new temporary site at the former rooms of the Staatliche Münze serves as a bridge between historic Berlin and an innovative and vibrant arts scene. The galleries, projects and artists come from all over the world: exhibitors from Israel, Colombia, Portugal, Denmark and Russia, as well as galleries from Romania, South Korea, Latvia and many more are showing at this year’s fair. A total of 111 Exhibitors from 20 countries will present their latest works of art, making the BERLINER LISTE 2010 more international than ever before. In 2010 a focus is on the “Photography” section, where a total of 11 exhibitors will exclusively show photography. Once again the Peter-Christian-Schlüschen Foundation will hold the contest and award for young, talented sports photographers in this framework.
For the seventh time, the BERLINER LISTE sets the stage for exchange between artists, galleries, collectors and the interested public. The fair has provided a platform for new and innovative work ever since its foundation in 2004 by the Berlin art dealer Wolfram Völcker. With this concept, and since the success of its jubilee in 2008 with around fifteen thousand visitors, the BERLINER LISTE has become Berlin’s second largest art fair after the Art Forum.
In addition to established and new galleries, this year project stands have also been awarded directly to international artists – allowing the latest developments in art to be experienced directly, unfiltered. Some of this year’s exhibitors – such as the 3 Punts Galeria, Galerie in Art and the ARTexhibitionLink Gallery UNO and others – exhibited successfully at last year’s BERLINER LISTE and wish to show their art to a broader audience again in 2010. The thomas punzman gallery will also participate again this year, showing among others the artist Nina Nolte, who creates pictures that originate from photographs and which address reality as a conceptual challenge. New this year is the exhibitor Youngha Ahn from Seoul in South Korea and the Galerie am Schloss, which presents contemporary sculpture by the artists W. Bonjisi and W. Tafiri, as well as abstract drawing and painting by the Swiss artist Christine Müller.
In total, 111 international exhibitors will present their latest and most innovative works of art this year on over 4000 square metres of exhibition space. Exhibitors from around the world have applied to take part in the BERLINER LISTE 2010. The BERLINER LISTE also includes exhibitors from countries such as Colombia, Russia, Romania, South Korea and Latvia. For the first time, three exhibitors will travel from Israel. 20 countries are represented this year, making the BERLINER LISTE 2010 more international than ever before.
Exhibition location in 2010 – the former rooms of the Staatliche Münze
As in previous years, the BERLINER LISTE remains true to its concept and is featuring a new, exciting and unusual exhibition site in 2010 – the former rooms of the Staatliche Münze. Prior editions have seen the Postbahnhof am Gleisdreieck, the vacant, former Haus Cumberland on Kurfürstendamm and the Palais am Tiergarten as selected venues.
The former rooms of the Staatliche Münze look back on an interesting history, which is closely linked to that of the city itself. For 70 years, the former mint produced coins from the Reichsmark to the Euro until its closure in 2006. The building still exudes the charm of Berlin’s industrial architecture of the 1930s, which stands in contrast to the international, innovative and young atmosphere of the fair. The interesting architectural design of the former rooms of the Staatliche Münze offers an ideal setting: Labyrinthine as well as spacious rooms are well suited for the presentation of art works and projects, inviting visitors to explore and discover. The former mint is situated across from the Rote Rathaus and the Nikolai Quarter and is therefore ideally located at the most important transportation hub in the city of Berlin.
Photography at the BERLINER LISTE 2010
For the last two years the BERLINER LISTE has expanded its “Photography” section and in 2010 the BERLINER LISTE will again present exhibitors who exclusively show photography. Among them is Joachim Manuel Riederer, who impresses with his depictions of dancers, which he uses to draw attention to the human body as both a work of art and an actual person. In addition to Galeria Hartmann from Barcelona, which has specialized in photography by contemporary international artists since 2002, photographs by artists from countries including France, Lebanon and Israel will also be presented.
