It’s well-known that Karl Lagerfeld is always searching for the new trend and looking towards the future, as the head designer and creative director of the French house Chanel, without nostalgia and repetitions; this philosophy influences also his way of searching the new face for fashion campaigns or make up lines.
For instance, Chanel has already chosen Kristen Stewart five times to pose for fashion adverts, and recently, for its brand new make up line. Next season’s eyewear advert stars the 15 years old actress and singer Willow Smith, daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, who interprets the contemporary spirit of Chanel.
Photographed by Mr Lagerfeld, Smith brings a fresh and youthful vibe to the historic maison, sporting locks, a septum ring and some of the jewellery from the Fall/Winter 2016 collection.
The campaign shows three new different themes of the eyewear line: Vintage (presented on the runway show), which represents a modern and transparent style; Urban Chic, with more baroque-like lines and Coco Chain, which has a small metal insert between the lenses.
