CHRISTIE’S, 13/02/2013 –  La vendita serale di arte contemporanea e del dopo guerra da Christie’s ha realizzato 81,668,850£. 65 lotti i lotti venduti. Top price per Jean-Michel Basquiat. Completato nel 1983,  “Museum Security (Broadway Meltdown)”  era stato incluso nella  Whitney Biennial del 1984, esposto nella seconda personale dell’artista alla galleria Gagosian a Los Angeles e anche in una importante retrospettiva dedicata all’artista alla Fondazione Beyeler, a  Basilea. Offerto a £7,000,000-9,000,000, ha realizzato £9,337,250  ($14,603,459). Il mercato di Basquiat negli ultimi cinque anni è cresciuto notevolmente e ancor più tra il 2011 e il 2012, quando il record mondiale per l’artista è stato superato ben tre volte (la più recente nel novembre del 2012 da Christie’s a New York quando “Untitled” (1981) è stato venduto per $26.4 milioni). Secondo posto per un “Abstraktes Bild” abbastanza recente, del 2004, di Gerhard Richter (che pochi mesi fa ha realizzato sempre con un Abstraktes Bild il record mondiale per l’artista vivente più pagato in asta). L’olio di 225 x 200 cm era presentato con stima a richiesta ed è stato aggiudicato per £8,441,250 ($13,202,115).  Superando di poco la stima minima pre-asta (£4,000,000-6,000,000), con £4,969,250 ($7,771,907) Francis Bacon si posiziona al terzo posto nella top ten della vendita. “Man in Blue VI” fu realizzato da Bacon tra marzo e giugno del 1954. Lo stesso anno in cui l’artista rappresentò l’Inghilterra alla ventisettesima Biennale di Venezia. Tra gli altri lotti di cui si è molto parlato prima della vendita “The Architect’s Home in the Ravine” di Peter Doig e “Great Pyramid at Giza with Broken Head from Thebes” di David Hockney hanno rispettivamente totalizzato: £7,657,250 ($11,975,939 – nuovo record mondiale per l’artista) e £3,513,250 ($5,494,723). Un autoritratto di Michelangelo Pistoletto del 1962 è stato aggiudicato a £1,273,250/$1,991,363 (stima £200,000 – £300,000) realizzando così il nuovo record mondiale per l’artista. Il precedente risale a ottobre 2012, quando “Metrocubo d’infinito” (1966) è stato aggiudicato a $1,105,360 a Londra (sempre da Christie’s, durante la Italian Sale). Un cretto di Alberto Burri del 1975, offerto a una stima di £400,000 – £600,000, ha realizzato £1,441,250.  “Peinture 202 x 156 cm, 27 mars 1961” di Pierre Soulages (b. 1919) è stato aggiudicato a £3,289,250/$5,144,387 . Il prezzo di aggiudicazione in asta più alto precedente era stato realizzato da Sotheby’s a Parigi nel 2011 (3,328,980 $). Il lotto n° 4, Christopher Wool, è passato di mano per £2,281,250 (stima: 700,000 – 900,000 £). Diverse le aggiudicazioni al di sopra delle stime massime, come Wade Guyton (lotto 3); Yayoi Kusama (lotto 6); Urs Fischer (lotto 7); Gilbert & George (lotto 11); Marlene Dumas (lotto 19); Allen Jones (lotto 33 – nuovo record mondiale per un set dell’artista in asta); Tom Wesselmann (lotto 34); o ancora Andreas Gursky (lotto 67); Jeff Wall (lotto69); Wade Guyton (lotto 70); Rudolf Stingel (lotto 74).

SOTHEBY’S, 12/02/2013 –  Anche per i Contemporanei il mercato londinese del febbraio 2013 ricalca le stesse caratteristiche evidenziatesi su quello dei Moderni e Impressionisti. Il totale è stato di 74,364,200 GBP, il secondo totale più alto per un’asta di art contemporanea a febbraio. (Nel 2012 l’analoga asta aveva realizzato 50,688,450 GBP). Allargamento della platea e prezzi sostenuti ma solo per opere capolavori. Non più top record stellari come nelle scorse stagioni ma complessivamente mercato più orizzontale. Il “Trittico” di Francis Bacon stimato 10-15 milioni di sterline alla fine ha realizzato 13,761,250 diritti compresi ed è stato acquistato da Jürgen Hall che lo darà in prestito a un’istituzione internazionale. Mentre l’altro Bacon più piccolo ma un vero capolavoro stimato 1,8-2,5 milioni è schizzato a 4,521,250 GPB. Venduti anche i due Jean-Michel Basquiat (lot 31 a 6,817,250 GPB; lot 35 a 4,969,250 GPB). Mentre il disegno di Lucien Freud (lot 17) è andato invenduto. Benissimo le sculture di Alexander Calder (guarda i primi lotti). Dei quattro Gerhard Richter presenti in questo catalogo quelli più importanti sono andati venduti. “Wolke (Cloud)”, lot 7, stimato 7-9 milioni a 7,601,250 GPB. Mentre il grande “Abstraktes Bild”, lot 23 stimato 7,5-9,5 milioni ha fatto 8,161,250 GPB. Gli altri due Richter piccoli, con stime comprese tra 600 mila e 1 milione di sterline, sono andati entrambi unsold. Tra gli italiani Alberto Burri (lot 8) stimato 480-650 mila ha fatto 825,250 GPB. La “Mappa” di Boetti (lot 21) unsold. Mentre il suo “Mimetico” ha fatto 295,250 GPB. Dei tre Lucio Fontana i quattro tagli su rosso (lot 9) stimato 800 mila-1,2 milioni è arrivato a 1,441,250 GPB. Il taglio su bianco (118×91 cm), lot 20, stimato 2,2-2,8 milioni è arrivato a 2,617,250 GPB. Mentre il “Treatrino” (lot 22) stimato 250-350 mila è andato unsold. Dei due Piero Manzoni il primo (lot 10) stimato 1-1,5 milioni ha realizzato 1,385,250 GPB. Il secondo (lot 55) è andato invenduto. L’ultimo lotto in catalogo, la scultura di Giuseppe Penone, realizzata nel 2005, stimata 180-22o mila è arrivata a 289,250 GPB realizzando il nuovo record mondiale per l’artista (altre due i record realizzati da: Adrian Ghenie e Hurvin Anderson)
