05.11.2013, NY – La evening sale di Impressionist & Modern Art di Christie’s ha totalizzato $144,299,000(£89,465,380/ € 106,781,260) con 35 lotti venduti su 46 offerti. Top Price il lotto n° 9, un olio dipinto nel 1954 da Alberto Giacometti, “Diego en chemise ecossaise”, aggiudicato a $32,645,000, poco più della stima minima ma che ha realizzato il nuovo record mondiale all’asta per mezzo artistico. Secondo posto per Wassily Kandinsky, con “Schwarz und Violett”, un olio dipinto nell’aprile del 1923. Offerto a 4,500,000 – 7,500,000 $, è passato di mano per $12,597,000. Non poteva mancare sul podio Pablo Picasso che si aggiudica la terza posizione con un ritratto della sua musa Marie-Thérèse  realizzato il 4 dicembre 1937 ($12,149,000). Un disegno di Vincent van Gogh che sul retro porta una lettera a suo fratello Theo, realizzato ad Arles, nel settembre del 1888 è stato venduto al di sopra delle stime per 5,485,000. Bene la scultura: vendute tutte quelle presenti in catalogo eccetto un cavallo di Degas, ultimo lotto. I tre bronzi di Henry Moore , due aggiudicati al sopra delle stime massime, hanno complessivamente realizzato 6 milioni di dollari. Bene anche  Jean Arp che con un bronzo di 138 cm ha cambiato proprietario per $1,145,000 (stima 600,000 – $800,000)

06.11.2013, NY – La evening sale di Impressionist & Modern Art di Sotheby’s ha totalizzato 290,244,000 $, con 13 lotti invenduti su 65 in catalogo. Il totle è stato superiore alla stima inferiore pre asta: 212.9 – 307.9  milioni di dollari. E’ il secondo risultato più alto raggiunto dalla casa d’aste dopo l’ormai storica asta del maggio del 2012 quando fu venduto l’Urlo di Munch. Il 94.2  % dei lotti è stato venduto al di sopra o entro le stime. “Grand tête mince”, la scultura di Alberto Giacometti che ritrae suo fratello Diego, è stato il top price della serata con i $50,005,000 di aggiudicazione. Mai offerta prima all’asta, era rimasta nella stessa collezione dagli anni Ottanta. Opere di Pablo Picassohanno realizzato ottimi risultati: “Tête de femme”, un ritratto del 1935 di Marie-Thérèse Walter è stato aggiudicato a $39,925,000, al di sopra della stima più alta. “Mousquetaire à la pipe” ha realizzato un nuovo record  per lavoro tardo dell’artista con $30,965,000, ed era stimato  al massimo $18 milioni.  “Automobile in corsa” di Giacomo Balla è stato venduto per  $11,477,000 (stima $12 – 18 milioni), nuovo record per l’artista. Era parte della collezione  “Futur! Masterworks of the Avant-Garde” che ha totalizzato $64.3 milioni e che ha visto nuovi record per 4 artisti tra cui Francis Picabia. “Glaçons, effet blanc” di Claude Monet, uno dei top lot segnalati prima dell’asta, è passato di mano per $16,125,000 (stima più alta $14 milioni). Nuovo  record anche per  Gustave Courbet con $3,749,000.
