Un tour-de-force di capolavori selezionati meticolosamente da una delle collezioni più apprezzate della storia. Quasi 1.500 opere tra arti decorative e fine art provenienti dalla residenza della coppia Ann & Gordon Getty a San Francisco saranno offerte all’asta da Christie’s in quattro aste live (20-23 ottobre) e sei vendite online (tra il 10 e il 25 ottobre). I proventi, che si stimano intorno ai $ 180 milioni, andranno a beneficio della Ann and Gordon Getty Foundation for the Arts, dedicata al sostegno di organizzazioni artistiche e scientifiche.

Gordon Getty ha commentato: «Sebbene ci abbia lasciati troppo presto, so che Ann sarebbe orgogliosa che il frutto del suo occhio squisito sia condiviso con il mondo e che la pianificazione filantropica attorno alla nostra collezione d’arte si stia realizzando. A VERY RARE PAIR OF CHINESE PAINTED ENAMEL GARDEN SEATS
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
Of quatrefoil form, each seat is finely enameled on the rounded sides and flat tops with elegant floral scrolls with polychrome stylized blossoms reserved on a cobalt blue ground, the lobed sides with shaped open panels framed by pairs of pink bats and blue dragons revealing an interior gu-shaped central column further decorated with floral scroll, archaistic dragons, and bats amidst clouds, all raised on four gilt bracket feet.
