Lotto 18

CHRISTIE’S. Londra, 19 novembre 2008

La vendita di fotografie si è conclusa con un totale di £ 782,250, 66 lotti venduti su 97 offerti. Yuka Yamaji, Head of Christie’s London Photographs: “Today’s sale saw particularly strong competition for the ‘Famous Faces’ section, including six lots by featured artist Michel Comte, which were 100% sold; Gisele by Mark Seliger set a new world auction record for the artist, fetching £22,500. The second featured artist in the sale, Ismo Hölttö (Finnish), also drew considerable interest, selling 100%. We are pleased that the innovative ‘Distinctively’ programme at Christie’s London Photographs continued to generate excitement, with active bidding throughout Distinctively Nordic and Distinctively Dutch. Notable highlights include a new world auction record for Le Printemps from ‘The New Painting’, 2001, by Finnish artist Elina Brotherus, which achieved £15,000, three times the pre-sale estimate. Leading the Dutch works were artist Erwin Olaf’s The Ice Cream Parlour from ‘Rain’, 2004, which fetched £18,750, setting a new world auction record for the artist, as well as the excellent price for Desiree Dolron’s VII, 2004, which sold for £39,650. We look forward to our next sale of Photographs in London at Christie’s South Kensington on Wednesday 26 November, which is followed by the New York sale of Icons of Glamour and Style – The Constantiner Collection, 16 & 17 December 2008.”
