La Evening Sale Da Sotheby’s ha totalizzato £47,640,900/$76,492,229/ €53,238,651 (stima pre-sala £31,110,000-48,120,000). La veduta di Venezia di Francesco Guardi “View of the Rialto Bridge, Looking North, from the Fondamenta del Carbon”, che ha realizzato il prezzo più alto nella settimana di vendite dedicate agli Old Master a Londra, è stato venduto a £26,697,250/$42,865,105/ €29,834,146 (st. £15-25 milioni). Ha realizzato un nuovo record mondiale e il secondo prezzo più alto realizzato all’asta da un dipinti antico.  Due Bidders si sono contesi strenuamente il dipinto e alla fien della battaglia è stato aggiudicato a un anomino al telefono. La vendita ha realizzato un venduto per lotto del 68.5%. 

Alex Bell, Sotheby’s Co-Chairman, Old Master Paintings,Worldwide, ha commentato: “This evening’s auction provided collectors with a unique opportunity to acquire one of Francesco Guardi’s greatest masterpieces. The price established tonight sets a new auction benchmark – not just for the artist but for any view painting and indeed is the second-highest price ever paid at auction for an Old Master painting.”
