Aviva Lehmann, Head of Sale, ha commentato: “This was a very diverse sale with strong examples from several different traditions within American art, including Impressionist, Modern and Hudson River School paintings, as well as Western and wildlife art. Prices for the top lots of the day, including two large-scale Impressionist works by Martha Walter and Hayley Lever, soared beyond their pre-sale estimates, and new records were achieved for 13 artists during the course of the sale. We are particularly pleased to have established the auction record for James Flamingos in the Andes, a work on paper by the celebrated naturalist Roger Tory Peterson, whose work had never been available to the public prior to this inaugural sale.”
