Nel secondo anniversario del crack della banca d’affari Lehman Brothers (settembre 2008) Christie’s ha messo all’incanto gli oggetti e le opere d’arte che arredavano gli uffici delle filiali europee. Dopo la vendita di Sotheby’s a New Yorkdelle collezioni d’arte del 25 settembre scorso, che vedeva molti lotti di artisti di successo della fine del XX secolo, con l’asta di Christie’s la scelta si è ampliata ai libri pregiati, alle porcellane cinesi, passando per gli Old masters e le targhe col nome della banca fino ai grandi nomi della Post-War and Contemporary.
L’asta si è tenuta mercoledì 29 settembre 2010 nella sede di South Kensington e ha realizzato1,631,238 GBP ($2,593,749, €1,904,271), un po’ meno delle aspettitave che si aggiravano intorno ai 2 milioni di sterline. (Lots Sold: 306, Lots Offered: 308, Sold by Lot: 99%)
