MAROCAINE DEBUT
9 – 11 ottobre 2010, Es Saadi Palace, Marrakech

At the Marrakech museum “Resonances: contemporary Moroccan artists across the world”
The exhibition “Resonance: contemporary Moroccan artists across the world” will be presented within the setting of the Marrakech museum, a XIX century riad located within the Marrakech medina. From October 7 to December 7, the Marrakech museum will host this exhibition produced by the Council of the Moroccan Community abroad. This unprecedented initiative allows presenting for the first time in Morocco a large number of elsewhere recognized artists from the Diaspora. It brings together about fifteen contemporary artists and intends to enhance the geographic, cultural and emotional connections that feed their creations. These artists, who basically live in Europe and America, resort to various media (painting, installation, video, photograph) to create the new images connecting both cultures, and thus echo the fascinating creative interferences between Morocco and the world. Their individual background and talent lead these artists to think of identity and otherness- here and elsewhere- as inventiveness factors.
