Art Osaka – luglio 2011

JAPANESE AWAKE

8 – 10 luglio 2011, Hotel Granvia, Osaka, Giappone

The Power of ART to Tohoku”.

comunicato stampa
Art Osaka: We are pleased to announce that ‘ART OSAKA 2011’, one of the leading art fairs in Japan, now for the 9th time, will be held at the new venue of the Hotel Granvia Osaka from 8 (Fri) July to 10 (Sun) July. The hotel offers a unique experience for the guests to enjoy art works by emerging artists in their private accommodation during the stay. (This project which started in 2009, is a collaboration with Kyoto City University of Arts.) The hotel located in the heart of Osaka is directly connected to the JR Osaka Station and has easy access to and from Kansai Air Port.

The exhibitors of ART OSAKA have been carefully selected from galleries that deal with contemporary art on a primary basis. ART OSAKA puts emphasis on the continuing approach of social activities, representing contemporary artists and enhancing the appeal and value of their works in the contemporary art scene. ART OSAKA also aims to broaden the collector base and to bring about a maturation of the contemporary art market in Japan.

In ART OSAKA 2011, 53 new and established galleries (45 from Japan, 6 from Korea and 2 from Taiwan) come together to show an excellent selection of their artist’s works. We believe the fair will be a cross-section of the very best from the emerging contemporary art scene in Asia, offering visitors an excellent opportunity to find that perfect artwork.

A charitable event ‘ The Power of Art to Tohoku’ will be arranged during the fair, rendering assistance to the survivors of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Our hope from West Japan is that this will give some support to the recovery efforts. Furthermore, special events and satellite programs are scheduled in the coming weeks. Please take this unique chance to experience the contemporary art scene for yourself.

Concept

The aim of ART OSAKA is to produce an art fair in which the work and concepts of contemporary artists are introduced to museums, collectors and others related to the art world. For a fresh perspective we invite the participation of emerging new galleries to exhibit alongside more established ones from both Japan and abroad.
