Ieri a Londra grande folla da Sotheby’s all’asta della Collezione di Mark Birley, considerato uno dei più eleganti uomini del ventesimo secolo. La vendita dell’arredamento di Thurloe Lodge, residenza londinese dell’illustre ambasciatore del gusto e proprietario di celebri club londinesi, ha duplicato la stima pre-asta totalizzando £3,854,619, (est. £1,258,040 – £1,840,770). Il raffinato senso dello stile e l’occhio per i dettagli di Birley hanno reso Thurloe Lodge una delle residenze più in d’Europa. Più di 850 clienti si sono registrati per partecipare all’asta della Collezione, generando un’accesa competizione sia in sale che al telefono. Oltre l’85% dei 496 lotti proposti in asta hanno superato la loro stima più alta.
