SOTHEBY’S. 17.10.2013, Londra – Le due aste di Arte Contemporanea e di Arte italiana del XX secolo hanno realizzato rispettivamente £21,459,000 e £15,079,500. Top Price delle Contemporary Sale è stato un grande paesaggio spaziale di Glenn Brown (ORNAMENTAL DESPAIR (PAINTING FOR IAN CURTIS) COPIED FROM ‘THE STARS LIKE DUST’, 1986 BY CHRIS FOSS), un olio su tela di ben 2 metri per 3 del 1994. Non ha superato di molto la stima massima con un’aggiudicazione di 3,554,500 sterline. Cinque lotti venduti sopra al milione di pound.  Con una partenza scoppiettante con continui rilanci, sono state molte le aggiudicazioni superiori alle stime massime:  Nate Lowman, Alex Hubbard, Oscar Murillo, Christopher Wool, Hurvin Anderson, Richard Hamilton, Tauba Auerbach. Il top lot -annunciato – per l’Arte Italiana è stato il concetto spaziale giallo con tagli e buchi del 1960 di Lucio Fontana che è passato di mano per 1,594,500 sterline. Il colore giallo ha portato bene anche al proprietario del Castellani del 1972 che l’ha venduto per 458,500 £, quattro volte la stima massima.  La Donna Bionda dello specchio di Pistoletto è stata aggiudicata a 722,500 sterline ed era offerta a una stima di 400/500 mila. Un Cretto di Burri,  partito da 300 mila, ha realizzato 626,500 pound, mentre “BIANCO-ROSSO (T T X)” ne ha realizzati  854,500. Record mondiale per Dadamaino : “Volume”  del 1959 è stata  vendutoa a 104,500 sterline, ma era stimata solo 40/60 mila  (record precedente: 91,823 $ /59,475 £). Solo 7 unsold su 46 lotti offerti

CHRISTIE’S. 18.10.2013, Londra  Le due aste di Arte Contemporanea e la Italian Sale hanno realizzato rispettivamente £27,788,900 e £26,798,00. Quest’autunno londinese del 2013 ha registrato dunque una netta supremazia della major di Pinault rispetto alla sua concorrente Sotheby’s. Da Christie’s il Post – War & Contemporary Art Evening Auction ha realizzato un totale di £ 27.788.900 ( 44.879,074 mila dollari / € 32.790.902 ) , vendendo il 91% contro una stima pre-vendita tra £ 20.300.000 e £ 29.200.000 . Ma la sopresa è arrivata dalla Italian Sale che ha realizzato £ 26.798.000 ( 43.278,77 mila dollari / 31.621.640 € ), il più alto mai totale per un’asta di arte italiana XX° secolo . E ‘ stato aggiudicato il 92% dei lotti presentati e la stima pre-asta del totale era cpmpresa trai £ 15.6  e  £ 22.0 milioni di sterline. Il prezzo superiore di questa serata è stato raggiunto non da un internazionale ma da un artista italian, un “Sacco” di Alberto Burri eseguito nel 1953, che ha realizzato 2.994.500 £ ( 4.836,118 mila dollari / 3.533.510 € ) dopo essere partito in gara da 1,7 milioni di pound. In totale nel corso di questa speciale serata Christie’s 17 lotti sono stati venduti per più di 1 milione di sterline e 26 per più di 1 milione calcolando la valuta in dollari. Tutte le vendite serali di questa settimana da Christie’s hanno stabilito 31 record dell’artista : 8 alle vendite di questa sera 18 ottobre , e 23 nell’asta di ieri della collezione Saatchi di sculture. Queste perfomance permettono allo staff di questa major di pensare in grande per gli sviluppi imminenti del mercato. I buyer sono arrivati da da 19 Paesi del mondo sparsi tra quattro continenti. Nell’asta di internazionali i prezzi record in asta sono stati stabiliti per gli  artisti Josephine Meckseper , Lynette Yiadom – Boakye , Sarah Lucas e Ryan Trecartin  , così come un prezzo record è stato raggiunto per una fotografia di Martin Kippenberger . Francesco Outred , Direttore Internazionale e Responsabile Post- War & Contemporary Art, l’Europa di Christie ha dichiarato: “Questa settimana ho visto uno straordinario successo nei nostri tre vendite serali. Ma soprattutto è stato spettacolare il successo della nostra vendita italiana, che superato il precedente record per l’arte italiana del XX secolo. Abbiamo visto i prezzi alti sia per gli artisti affermati come Kippenberger , Basquiat e Doig , nonché record per giovani artisti come Josephine Meckseper , Lynette Yiadom – Boakye e Ryan Trecartin. Il punto di forza delle nostre vendite può essere collegato a un pubblico crescente per l’arte contemporanea”. Tra gli Highlights di questa serata di ottobre 2013 alla Christie’s di Londra: “Tomba di Böcklin” ( copiato da ‘ città galleggianti ‘ , del 1981, da Chris Foss ) , dipinto nel 1998 da Glenn Brown  venduto per £ 2.322.500 ( 3.750,838 mila dollari / 2.740.550 € ) . Meticolosamente eseguito su scala epica con dettagli straordinari e virtuosismo tecnico, questa pittura trasporta lo spettatore in un altro universo. Questo quadro, una stazione spaziale solitaria abbandonati nello spazio esterno, prende in prestito il tema dell’ “Isola dei morti” del simbolista svizzero Arnold Böcklin e il lavoro di Ferdinand Keller “La tomba di Böcklin” del 1901-02. Questo incredibile paesaggio ipperealista si estende per oltre tre metri ed è stato esposto e acclamato dalla critica nella retrospettiva di metà carriera di Brown alla Serpentine Gallery di Londra nel 2004 , oltre che aver dominato la prima stanza della sua mostra personale alla Tate di Liverpool nel 2009 . “Nieder mit der Borghesia ( Abbasso la borghesia )”, del 1983 di Martin Kippenberger è stato venduto per £ 1.818.500 ( 2.936,878 mila dollari / 2.145.830 € ). Si tratta di un ironico autoritratto dell’artista, uno dei suoi più celebri dittici di grandi dimensioni. Deliberatamente ritagliato, il dipinto raffigura Kippenberger dal collo in giù, in piedi su una sedia con i pantaloni un po ‘ disfatti, un riferimento forse al suo comportamento stravagante al Reinhard Mucha durante l’apertura alla Hetzler Galleria Max di Colonia , nel mese di ottobre 1983 di una sua mostra.”Red Canoe” di Peter Doig è stato venduto per 1.762.500 £ / 2.846,438 mila dollari / 2.079.750 € . Fu a Londra nel 2000 dopo che Doig era tornato dalla residenza di un artista a Trinidad , l’isola caraibica dove aveva vissuto da bambino. L’opera è strettamente correlata a quelle presenti nella collezione del Museum of Modern Art di New York, così come a due altre opere dello stesso titolo presso il Museo di Arte Contemporanea di Los Angeles  e al Centre Pompidou di Parigi .  Nella Italian Sale, come dicevamo, il prezzo alto è stato pagato per il Sacco di Alberto Burri, che ha realizzato 2.994.500 £ ( 4.836,118 mila dollari / 3.533.510 € ). Ben otto  lotti sono stati venduti per oltre 1.000.000 di sterline / 14 per oltre 1 milione di dollari.  Quattro i nuovi record raggiunti da opere di Marina Apollonio, Paolo Scheggi, Mario Schifano e Pino Pascali. Mariolina Bassetti , Presidente Christie Italia ha dichiarato : ” La 13 ° edizione della nostra Italia Sale ha  polverizzanto il precedente record per la categoria. Nel corso degli anni l’arte moderna e contemporanea italiana ha attirato un pubblico sempre più internazionale. I prezzi raggiunti stasera dimostrano inequivocabilmente la crescita graduale e sana di questo mercato. Come evidenziato dal ‘”Muro di Pietra” di Pino Pascali, che ha stabilito un record d’asta mondiale per questo artista. Durante la sua breve vita questo straordinaria artista ha prodotto solo 120 opere la cui qualità è stata più volte celebrata nelle vendite italiane di Christie. mentre di Burri il suo  “Sacco” del ’53 , un vero capolavoro di arte italiana del XX secolo , ha giustamente suscitato grande interesse e ha raggiunto un prezzo impressionante, in vista della grande retrospettiva che il Guggenheim Museum dedicherà all’artista nel 2015″.
