Il prossimo autunno il Whitney di New York ospiterà una grande retrospettiva di Andy Warhol

E’ la prima in trent’anni dedicata al geniale artista da un museo americano. Curata da Donna De Salvo (deputy director, senior curator, Whitney) e intitolata “Andy Warhol-From A to B and Back Again“, la mostra aprirà i battenti il 12 novembre e proseguirà fino al 31 marzo del 2019 raccontando, attraverso un percorso lungo oltre 350 opere, quarant’anni di carriera del padre della pop art. Lo spazio espositivo occuperà quasi per intero l’edificio realizzato da Renzo Piano all’ombra dell’Highline. E dopo New York la rassegna si sposterà a San Francisco e a Chicago.

“Lavoriamo all’organizzazione di questo evento da circa otto anni, ancora prima che il museo si trasferisse nella nuova sede nel distretto del Meatpacking”, ha spiegato il direttore del Whitney Adam Weinberg, sottolineando che una gestazione così lunga è dovuta al fatto che per affrontare una simile impresa “occorre tanta conoscenza e tanto spazio”. L’esposizione si focalizzerà sulla produzione degli anni ’70 e ’80.
