La top ten mondiale dell’arte di Christie’s e Sotheby’s, i due colossi delle vendite all’asta, ha totalizzato quasi 915.000.000 dollari.
La medaglia d’oro va ad Amedeo Modigliani con “Nu Couché (Sur Le Côté Gauche)”, dipinto nel 1917, venduto a New York lo scorso maggio per 157.159.000 dollari da Sotheby’s. La Maison, quotata in borsa, ha incassato solo nelle aste (senza contare le private sale) un totale aggiudicazioni pari a 5,2 miliardi di dollari. Contro i 4,7 del 2017.
Segue Christie’s con le successive 7 posizioni e l’ultimo posto. L’argento va a Pablo Picasso, “Fillette à la corbeille fleurie” , dipinto nel 1905 e battuto lo scorso maggio durante la mitica asta della collezione Rockefeller, a ben 115 milioni di dollari. Il terzo dipinto classificato è stato venduto sempre a New York ma durante l’asta autunnale della raccolta Ebsworth: “Chop Suey” di Edward Hopper che ha sfiorato i 92 milioni.
