La vendita ha totalizzato £25,318,500 con 39 lotti venduti su 59 offerti. (venduto per lotto 75%). Richard Knight, International co-Head, and Paul Raison, Head of Old Masters and 19th Century Art at Christie’s London stated: “This sale had real energy, demonstrating that the market for classical European art continues to be strong. We saw a deep pool of international collectors participating in this evening’s auction in a packed saleroom and with over 60 registered telephone bidders, there were robust prices throughout. We noted particularly strong demand for English and Netherlandish pictures and it is significant that 8% of lots sold were bought by Asian buyers, a new development for our market. It was a disappointment that the superb painting by Poussin did not sell in the auction. This masterpiece was admired and appreciated around the world, generating considerable excitement. Overall, we saw strong private institutional and trade bidding from Europe including Russia, Asia and the United States of America. We look forward to our sale tomorrow and the sale in New York in January 2011.”
