Da Christie’s la vendita “First Open: arte contemporanea e del dopo guerra”, si terrà il prossimo 7 marzo e offrirà una selezione di 200 opere, inclusi 45 lotti provenienti dalla Collezione di Peter Norton e i proventi di 5 lotti donati dagli artisti andranno in beneficenza (The Trevor Project).
Le vendite “First Open”, organizzate da anni da Christie’s, sono un’ottima occasione per i nuovi collezionisti (ma non solo) di trovare delle occasioni per scoprire giovani artisti o per scovare opere meno conosciute di artisti famosi.
In catalogo opere di Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Tom Wesselman, Yutaka Sone, Beatriz Milhazes, Milton Resnick e John Baldessari.
Tra gli highlights “Rubidium Chloride” di Damien Hirst del 2006 (stima: $600,000-800,000). ‘I was always a colourist, I’ve always had a phenomenal love of colour…‘ ha dichiarato Damien Hirst in occasione della mostra “The Complete Spot Paintings 1986-2011”, da Gagosian Gallery (da marzo 2012 in tutte le sedi della galleria in contemporanea). Nel 1997 ha scritto: “I once said that the spot paintings could be what art looks like viewed through an imaginary microscope. I love the fact that in the paintings the angst is removed…If you look closely at any one of these paintings a strange thing happens: because of the lack of repeated colours, there is no harmony. We are used to picking out chords of the same colour and balancing them with different chords of other colours to create meaning. This can’t happen. So in every painting there is subliminal sense of unease; yet the colours project so much joy it’s hard to feel it, but it’s there.”
