Frieze Sculpture torna al Regent’s Park di Londra da oggi, 18 settembre, al 27 ottobre 2024. La tanto celebrata iniziativa di arte pubblica è indissolubilmente legata a Frieze London e Frieze Masters, che si svolgono in contemporanea nel Regent’s Park, dal 9 al 13 ottobre. Curata da Fatoş Üstek, Frieze Sculpture si è ampliata per la sua dodicesima edizione includendo 22 artisti internazionali di spicco provenienti da cinque continenti, le cui opere (tra cui una performance) saranno collocate negli storici English Gardens del parco.
Üstek ha dichiarato: «La Frieze Sculpture di quest’anno presenta approcci artistici audaci e sperimentali. Inoltre, si ritaglia uno spazio per gli incontri ludici, per i temi sociali e ambientali e per le pratiche concettuali e spirituali che ampliano la nozione di scultura pubblica”. Con programmi pubblici e collaborazioni con organizzazioni londinesi, l’edizione 2024 di Frieze Sculpture ha più che mai da offrire».
«Sulla base della prima edizione di Üstek nel 2023 (di cui lei stessa ci aveva parlato nell’intervista che potete trovare qui, ndr), il programma di quest’anno abbraccia una nozione più ampia di scultura, presentando 18 nuove opere e mettendo in evidenza artisti che esplorano le possibilità del mezzo coinvolgendo suono, luce, performance, pittura, video e realtà aumentata», hanno spiegato gli organizzatori.
