L’asta Christie’s “If I Live I’ll See You Tuesday” ha archiviato un totale di $134.6 milioni, con il 97% di venduto per lotto e il 99,5% per valore.
La selezione delle opere era stata affidata all’International specialist Loïc Gouzer. L’asta, il cui titolo gioca con l’opera “If I die” di Richard Prince (aggiudicata a $4,645,000) voleva trasmettere il lato più oscuro dell’ Arte Contemporanea.
16 nuovi record sono stati realizzati. Tra gli artisti Joe Bradley, Dan Colen, Peter Doig, On Kawara, Glenn Ligon, Adam McEwen, Richard Prince e Thomas Schutte. Molte opere di artisti emergenti hanno realizzato prezzi ben al di sopra delle stime. Alex Israel, alla sua prima partecipazione in asta, con “Sky Backdrop” ha realizzato un prezzo superiore di 5 volte la stima con una aggiudicazione di $1,025,000.
Martin Kippenberger , con “Untitled”, ha realizzato il suo nuovo record d’asta con $18,645,000, dopo 6 minuti di battaglia tra sala e telefono oltre che il top price della vendita.
