Il corto della regista sarà su Disney+ da dicembre. Nominata per l’Oscar anche Nan Goldin per All the Beauty and The Bloodshed
Si vociferava già da qualche ora, ma grande è stata la sorpresa quando il premio Oscar Riz Ahmed e l’attrice Allison Williams, in diretta da Beverly Hills, hanno nominato Le Pupille di Alice Rohrwacher agli Oscar 2023 che si terranno il 12 marzo. Il cortometraggio concorre nella categoria Live-Action Short. Prodotto da Carlo Cresto-Dina per Tempesta e Alfonso Cuaròn per Esperanto Filmoj, dopo l’esordio al Telluride Film Festival Le Pupille è stato distribuito dalla piattaforma Disney+. Film a tema natalizio si ispira ad una lettera di Elsa Morante a Goffredo Fofi. Nel cast anche Alba Rohrwacher e Valeria Bruni Tedeschi.
“Oltre diecimila professionisti dell’industria cinematografica da 80 paesi hanno scelto le nomination per la prossima edizione degli Oscar”, ha sottolineato in apertura Janet Yang, attuale Presidente degli Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, prima di lanciare l’elenco completo dei concorrenti. Ben nove candidature per l’apprezzatissimo All Quiet On The Western Front del tedesco Edward Berger, tra cui Miglior Film, Fotografia, Miglior Pellicola Internazionale, Scenografia, Effetti Speciali e Suono. Ottimo anche Everything Everywhere All At Once (qui la nostra intervista) di Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, candidati alla regia insieme a Michelle Yeoh e Ke Oui Quan nelle rispettive categorie miglior attrice protagonista e attore non protagonista, già vincitori durante gli ultimi Golden Globes e per il montaggio.
Eo di Jerzy Skolimowski si piazza con merito nella cinquina dei film stranieri insieme, oltre al già citato All Quite On The Western Front, a Close di Lucas Dont, Argentina, 1985 di Santiago Mitre e The Quite Girl di Colm Bairead. A bocca asciutta Alfonso Cuaròn, che oltre ad essere produttore di Alice Rohrwacher era in lizza con Bardo, The False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths, che invece ha avuto una sola nomination per la fotografia. Sembra che i votanti degli Oscar non sono d’accordo con quelli dei Razzie Awards (i premi dei film più brutti dell’anno) che a Blonde di Andrew Dominik pochi giorni fa hanno dato il maggior numero di nomination, incluso quella per l’interpretazione di Ana de Armas, che invece agli Oscar è stata scelta per competere con Cate Blanchett (Tar), Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans) e, altra sorpresa, Andrea Riseborough per To Leslie.
Nelle candidature per il miglior attore spicca quella di Paul Mescal per il film che ha fatto impazzire la critica da una parte all’altra del globo, Aftersun, di Charlotte Wells, mentre gli altri candidati sono Austin Butler per Elvis, Colin Farrel per The Banshees of Inisherin, Brendan Fraser per The Whale (in linea con la scelta dei Critic Choice Awards) e Bill Nighy per Living, che concorre anche per la miglior sceneggiatura del nobel Kazuo Ishiguro. Tra i documentari non poteva mancare il vincitore di Venezia, All The Beauty and The Bloodsheed di Laura Poitras, ritratto intimo e crepuscolare di Nan Goldin, distribuito in Italia da I Wonder Pictures di Andrea Romeo. Dieci, infine, i titoli che si contendono il premio più ambito, quello per il miglior film: da The Fabelmans di Steven Spielberg a Triangle of Sadness di Ruben Oslund la partita è tutta da giocare.
