Tra le fiere collaterali di Art Basel, è presente anche quest’anno “Volta”, giunta all’ottava edizione. Le gallerie che partecipano alla fiera trattano artisti contemporanei emergenti.
Il “Curatorial Board”, che cambia ogni anno per dare a ogni edizione una sua identità specifica, è composto per questa edizione 2012 da: Amanda Coulson (Artistic Director of VOLTA and Director of The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas); Christoph Doswald (Chairman of the Working Committee for art in public places in Zurich); Ulrich Voges (Art historian and economist and co-founder of VOLTA); David Risley (Director of David Risley Gallery, Copenhagen, and founder of Zoo Art Fair, London).
Le gallerie presenti sono 81, 64 provenienti dall’Europa e 12 dall’America. (altri espositori dall’Asia, dall’Africa e dall’Australia). Le gallerie italiane sono tre: Federico Bianchi Contemporary Art, Milano ; PAOLO MARIA DEANESI GALLERY, Rovereto; MAGROROCCA, Milano.
Come nelle edizioni passate, le gallerie presentano stand tendenzialmente dedicati a singoli artisti o stand che presentano il lavoro di due artisti in dialogo tra loro.
